Gary's Tears

Tears swept down Gary's cheeks as he laid his deceased friend to rest, the awful memory on the SS Maria, when his friend Raticate was badly injured and failed to make it to the Pokémon centre in time, bitter anger shot through Gary as he remembered the battle between him and Ash that caused his friend to die. Gary closed his eyes to keep out the tears as he muttered to himself, 'My dear friend, I swear that I will make it to Team Indigo,' he clenched his fist until it turned white as he stood up, 'For you.' The rain poured in Lavender Town as if the skies were crying for Raticates loss, Gary stood there weeping for his dead friend. Behind him he heard footsteps, it was his rival, Ash, despite his instinct to confront  him for murdering his friend, he pretended not to cry as he looked to his foe, and challenged him to battle.
